Lets make Friday "new bands you should know about" day. Forgive me if next Friday i forget that I deemed it NBYSKAD. But today we celebrate. Let me start with a story.
Last February I went on tour with the boys for three months. At the same time i got a new roommate. She and i never really lived together because I left for tour two days after she moved in, and when i got back she moved back to New York. She dates this dude named Sasha, who i had recognized from around town.

I had seen him at shows and he's friends with some of my friends. He told me that he was in a band and they were working in their basement on some tunes trying to get it all together.
Cut to our show at Spaceland a couple weeks ago. Sasha came to the show, wearing a fantastic gold tie, and give me a CD of his band Castaneda.
This is the cover.

I was stoked to receive the CD and quickly placed it in my velvet blazer. After many glasses of Jack Daniel's I forgot where I had put the CD.
Last night i received a text from professional rock musician, Jacques Brautbar which read, "Dude, did you listen to Castaneda? That shit is amazing!". I hadn't listened. I didn't even know where I had put the CD. So I ruffled through my closet and found the CD in the now smelly jacket. Smelly because i played two shows in a row in it, and i don't know what you are supposed to do with velvet. Hand wash? Dry clean? If anyone knows, please let me know.
I woke up this morning imported the CD into my Itunes and gave it a listen. I must have listened to the EP four times in a row.
Dudes, if you like Something For Rockets, you will love Castaneda. Great songs, catchy hooks, and driving beats. It's like New Order meets Death Cab. So, for all those reading this blog, check out their myspace page. You will dig them for sure.
