Girth

Today I want to introduce you all to Girth. Girth is a new band started by SFR drummer Barry Davis and Zed Kelly. Zed is one half of the hip hop producing duo known as Da Riffs (myspce.com/dariffs). If you have played any EA Sports video games, then you have most likely heard a Da Riffs track. Barry and Zed were in a band together in college.

Earlyer this summer, Barry, Zed, and Zed's girl Dina got together and started working on some songs. The idea was to create music for a fictitious murder mystery movie. I ran into Zed at my birthday party (see birthday blog) and he talked to me about coming in and laying down some vocals for the project. We ended up spending the summer working on songs that would later be an entire album. I was fortunate enough to be able to write my own lyrics. I dipped into my bag of song writing tricks for the dirtiest, darkest shit i could find. Think "Neighbors" but darker. Needless to say, I'm super excited about the project.
